How Can I Speed Up My PC

If you have a sluggish computer, it is one of the most annoying things especially when you need to do some research from the internet or send an important email to family overseas. Most PC users hate this because it is disrupting their normal tasks and it’s quite a hassle. If you are pondering on “how can I speed up my PC?”, you have several options and most of them are at the tip of your fingers just waiting to be utilized.

Computer users who wonder “how can I speed up my PC?” would sometimes end up spending too much on hardware or unnecessary software just to solve their PC problems. But the thing is, anyone can solve speed problems without even spending a dime.

** Still asking yourself “How can I speed up my PC?” Here are some tips:

- Disable your PC’s applications that are on automatic start-up. These applications start-up simultaneously with your PC which makes it slow to start-up/boot. Leave only the most important and frequently-used applications on auto start-up and keep it at a minimum.

- Be cautious when you download from the internet because not every file or program is legitimate and safe. Before you go online you should install anti-virus and anti-spyware in order to protect your PC from harmful invasions.

- You should make it a point to delete internet cache and cookies from your PC/browsing history. Do this before or after you surf the internet again to clear your PC’s virtual memory. You may do so via control panel or from the “tools” option on the File menu of your internet browser.

- Enable your internet browser’s pop-up blocker to prevent tons of website ads from popping out. These are annoying, quite a hassle to cancel/exit, and most often irritating. Take note that most of these pop-up websites are owned by unscrupulous companies that post ads, pornographic content and may usually have malicious files attached [virus and spyware].

- Defragment your hard disk on a schedule- preferably once a week. Defragmenting enables your hard disk to open files efficiently minus the hassles of collecting scattered fragments of information from various partitions. If it’s your first time to defrag, it might take a few hours since your hard disk will need to collect and put into place all of the fragmented information back to their original state.
